Spathiphyllum
The Spathiphyllum, also known as Peace Lily, refers to species in the genus Spathiphyllum. In popular culture the Spath is used to represent purity, peace, and hope. The ancient Chinese art of feng shui utilizes the Spath as a means of introducing harmony and calm energy into living spaces. Traditionally given during a period of mourning as a gift of remembrance. Peace Lily's are moderate growers and typically reach maturity in size around 3 years, depending upon the care you give it.
Zones 11-12
Light requirements indoors: requires sunlight, but not direct sun that would cause a scorch mark on the leaves. Choose filtered light in an east-facing window.
Water requirements: water when the top inch of soil in the container has dried out, these plants prefer to be under-watered rather than overwatered. During the winter when plant goes dormant, reduce your watering but do not let the soil dry completely. Filtered or distilled water is best! Spritz the leaves every week with softened or distilled water throughout the summer growing season to raise humidity.
Mature Size is 1' - 4' tall, and 1' - 4' wide indoors. Up to 6' tall outdoors in appropriate climates.
