Camellia Sasanqua Susy Dirr
Camellia
This lovely, fall blooming camellia will be a dense, robust grower in your garden. Elegant, formal, double carmine-pink flowers show off nicely against dark green leaves.
Named after the late Susy Dirr, daughter of Dr. Michael Dirr and Bonnie Dirr, this impressive fall-blooming Camellia features very large and lovely full double flowers with carmine pink petals for an extended period in fall through early winter. The flowers stand out remarkably well against the deep green and lustrous evergreen foliage. A versatile Camellia that can be grown as a large shrub, hedge, or espalier against an open wall, or lower branches can be removed to form a highly attractive small evergreen tree.
Bobby Green, the breeder of this Camellia has generously gifted his share of the proceeds from each plant to the Sweet Melissa Fund, which helps families with cystic fibrosis.
